Honeymoon Cottage is a private vacation rental home located on resort grounds at Persimmon Creek Cottages. This secluded former schoolhouse in the prairies of northwest Oklahoma is picturesque and relaxing — the perfect getaway for newlyweds or couples in any stage of life.
At Honeymoon Cottage, cozy in together for an old-fashioned holiday and settle into the slower pace of an earlier time. This traditional schoolhouse building has been relocated and renovated to accommodate your every need, from mealtime to bedtime and everything in between.
A central sitting area features a loveseat and an overstuffed armchair, as well as an antique daybed. A large coffee table provides a space to play games or just put your feet up while you nap, enjoy a quiet cup of coffee, or kick back to watch our flat-screen satellite TV.
The attached kitchenette is complete with a sink, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster oven, crockpot, refrigerator and freezer, as well as a small dining area. The private bedroom has a queen-sized bed and opens out onto an open-air patio at the back end of the house.
One of Honeymoon Cottage’s best amenities is the spacious master bath! Along with a large walk-in shower, the bath includes a two-person whirlpool tub set next to a picture window that offers a stunning view of the western sunset over the open prairie.

Although this quiet spot in the sparsely populated Oklahoma prairie is relatively secluded, there are a number of easy day trips — roughly 60 to 70 miles away — that are worth planning time to see during your stay.
Some of our favorites include the Alabaster Caverns State Park, the Selman Bat Cave Wildlife Area, Foss Lake, and the Washita Battlefield National Historic Site. Closer to home, you can find the Plains Indian and Pioneers Museum and the seasonal Woodward Elks PRCA Rodeo!

We are Mick and Susan Young, both born and raised in Northwest Oklahoma some 60+ years ago. We decided to jump into the lodging business because we have a lot of space to share here in a wonderful country setting, but mostly we enjoy people. With retirement approaching, this seems to us to be a great way to spend our time. In July of 2008 we became the proud owners of a rapidly deteriorating 1902 farmhouse. Most people who knew of our intentions to move and renovate the house shook their heads and said we were crazy, but this wonderful piece of Americana needed saving and we wanted to be the ones to do it!
As if remodeling the original house was not enough to keep us busy, we decided to try to rescue a couple of other small buildings that we had noticed over the years. When we decided to try to acquire the first one, our thought was to use it as a garden shed. But, as we studied it, we decided it was too unique for a garden shed and thought it would make a great cabin. And...the idea of Persimmon Creek Cottages was born! Here we are now, nine years later, the main house all but done, the Rustic Cabin, Honeymoon Cottage and, in 2019, the Schoolhouse, all done and in use. As this journey continues, we are continually blessed by our guests. We have made lifelong friends through this venture and wouldn't have missed it for anything! We hope some of you who read this will want to come share in and become part of our story as it continues.
