Log Cabin Escape
Enjoying a Sharon cabin or cottage is truly a tranquil experience — You’ll enjoy being able to slow things down and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Rest, relax, and breathe in the clean Oklahoma air!
Sharon was originally named Hackberry and was located on Persimmon Creek. In 1912, it was relocated to a site on the Wichita Falls and Northwestern Railway and was named “Sharon” by a coin toss. Local businesses mostly included lumberyards, feed mills, stores, automotive services, and a bank.
From the 1950s through the 1970s, Sharon was the smallest town in the world to have a Chevrolet dealership. Nowadays, Sharon is a quaint town that is known for its Volunteer Fire Department Barbecue each October. Also, two hundred Sharon school alumni come for homecoming every other Memorial Day weekend.
May, September, and October are considered the most pleasant weather months in Sharon, so you may want to consider booking your cottage for one of these months. You’ll find that it’s not too hot or cold during these months — Perfect vacation weather!
While this town is small, you will find a couple choices for church if you happen to be visiting on a Sunday. You will also find a dentist, trucking company, and a couple other businesses in town. Don’t forget to mail a postcard to your family back home from Sharon’s post office!
If you’re ready to go out for dinner, you will probably have to either enjoy a meal at your vacation home or make the short 15-minute drive to a restaurant in Woodward. Because this area is considered “cattle country,” you’ll find that the steaks that are served in local restaurants are delectable!
Whether you like your steaks rare, well-done, or somewhere in between, you’ll love the scrumptious ribeyes and sirloins that this area offers! There are a few other interesting attractions around as well, including the Plains Indians and Pioneers Museum.
If golf is your thing, check out Boiling Springs Golf Course, which is only 18 miles from Sharon. This challenging course has beautiful, scenic views! You’ll love a day out on the golf course before returning to your relaxing rental in Sharon.
